THE ANCIENT TOWERS OF SAN GIMIGNANO ON THE HORIZON PROVIDE THE PERFECT BACKDROP FOR A CULTURAL FEAST OF FINE FOOD AND WINE, WITH EXCEPTIONAL ENTERTAINMENT

“Wine, music and food have been complementary pleasures for millennia. One needs only to think of  ancient Roman and Greek banquets to confirm their  close association. At Il Piano we combine these pleasures. Following the success of our previous, high quality seasons, we are proud to present our fifth  season of summer  concerts, ‘Musica da Vino’, directed by our artistic director, John Wregg, a renowned Australian opera director. Each evening starts with guests enjoying a tasting of Il Piano wines, followed by a concert, and then a typical Tuscan feast, under the stars at the picturesque and elegant villa of the winery.

Andrea Carlesi is our host at Il Piano and, amongst his many other achievements, is an accomplished musician. He plays French Horn in several orchestras performing in Italy and other countries, including the prestigious Musikverein in Vienna. Our first concert this season features his wind octet, playing light classical music.

Two of the other concerts are led by eminent, internationally established opera singers performing the lighter side of their repertoire, including some operatic favourites.

‘Musica da Vino’ concerts, whilst featuring operatic stars, are not restricted to the opera cognoscenti. They will appeal to anyone who enjoys tuneful, expertly performed, classical, traditional and nostalgic music  in a relaxed atmosphere in a stunning setting in the Tuscan countryside .”

Concert 1 - May 7th - I Solisti Italiani, Wind Octet.

Concert 2 - June 4th - Soprano twin sisters Patrizia and Paola Cigna.

Concert 3 - July 2nd - Margaret Medlyn, Soprano and Aldo Di Toro, Tenor.
